Join the Young Friends of the Philadelphia Jewish Film Festival as we
celebrate the fantastic films shown in the November - May season of the
07-08 Philadelphia Jewish Film Festival.
The Philadelphia Jewish Film Festival, hosted by the Gershman Y at Broad and
Pine Sts., is one of the first festivals of its kind. It continues today in
its 27th season as a premier venue for some of the most acclaimed feature
films and documentaries of the year by some of the finest filmmakers from
around the world.
The Young Friends host unique film-related events throughout the festival
year exclusively for younger adults (under 45). We also provide a regular
meeting-place in the Balcony of the Gershman Y. Join us and enjoy the art
of film, explore Jewish culture, and hang out with other younger film lovers
in the Greater Philadelphia area.
Previous Young Friends events have included:
- Israeli falafel, folk dancing, and a discussion of a dramatic Israeli film
- Cocktails with a young Argentinean filmmaker after his touching family drama
- Turkish food, a bellydancing performance, and a powerful film on Turkish and Romanian immigrants in Tel Aviv
- A probing discussion of Jewish identity, after a film on Barbie and the Jews.
